letterpress bookplates

Recently I got to work with an amazing client, Julia, and design some bookplates as a baby present for her best friend. It was such a creative project to work on. Sweet Louisa (the baby) already has a library of books; her parents had a baby shower where each of the guests brought their favorite books. Isn't that just the sweetest idea? Well Julia thought letterpress bookplates would make a wonderful gift for all her new books, and I totally agreed!

The design is a classic silhouette of a little girl sitting against a tree reading, yet we paired it with a fun whimsical font for her name. We went with a more subdued and neutral color palette because each book has different colors and patterns, and we wanted something that would compliment rather than fight with the inside covers. These are printed on 110lb cotton paper and then an acid free/archival adhesive was added - so these are basically thick, beautiful, letterpress stickers.

I absolutely LOVE how these bookplates turned out! I think they are such a creative gift, and I know Louisa will be reminded of her aunt Julia each time she reads for years to come. :)
